Why I quit my job
Here are some insights why I quit and why you should consider it too.
The reason why I quit my job to travel the world is simple. I just wanted to try something else. It’s not that anything was wrong and I had everything that I could wish for, family and friends, good apartment and a job with nice salary but in the end I got bored working nine to five and dreaming about life I would never have and places I’d never see.
Quitting ones job is a choice we all should consider at some point. The fact is that your boss is never going to approach you and say “hey, nice work on last project, would you like to work a bit less and have more time for yourself?”. It’s never going to happen. The only person who is going to make it happen is you. It doesn’t really matter what you choose to do as long it’s something you always wanted. It even might not be traveling. You could give a shot as a tango dancer or woodcarver. The most important thing is to realize that the choice is yours.
Everyone I meet and tell about my plan are like: “wow that’s great, you must be so excited!” Damn right I’m excited but I’m also really fucking scared what is going to happen because I don’t really have plan B and I don’t have clear plan what is going to happen in the future but that’s the risk I’m willing to take. You can ask me in one year whether it was worth it but at the moment I feel that this was the right choice.
Long story short you are never too old to quit and start something new in your life. A good way to start is to think what you would do if you knew you wouldn’t fail. Of course you might fail and had to start over but that’s the beauty of it – at least you tried. And that experience will carry you far my friend. At least that’s what I think now waiting for my first 28h flights to Sri Lanka. Let the adventure begin.
